Guests of Honour: Adam Dawson, Chief Executive, Office of Carbon Capture & Storage, Department of Energy and Climate Change and Nick Horler, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Power
This seminar will give latest views on the prospects for the wide-scale commercial development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), including the key challenge of building greater public acceptance in the UK and internationally. With a senior contribution from the Department of Energy and Climate Change on the long term strategy for CCS, planned sessions explore the questions that remain over the viability of the technology itself, the progress that has been made on design, and the practicalities and cost of roll-out.
We are delighted that Adam Dawson, Chief Executive, Office of Carbon Capture & Storage, Department of Energy and Climate Change; Nick Horler, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Power and Dr Jim Watson, Director, Sussex Energy Group, University of Sussex have kindly agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.
Other confirmed speakers include: Dr Jeff Chapman, Chief Executive, Carbon Capture & Storage Association (CCSA); Kirsty Clough, Climate Change Policy Officer, WWF-UK; Neil Crumpton, UK Representative, The Bellona Foundation; Dr Jim Fitzgerald, Assistant Director, Ernst & Young; Dr Tim Fox, Head of Energy and Environment, Institution of Mechanical Engineers; Professor Jon Gibbins, Professor of Power Plant Engineering and Carbon Capture, University of Edinburgh; James Lyall, Senior Manager, Knowledge Management, Accenture; Ian Phillips, Director, CO2 Deepstore and Chair, CCSA Regulatory Workgroup and William Wilson, Barrister, Energy and Utilities, Burges Salmon.

Global XTL & IGCC Congress 2010
Global XTL & IGCC Congress 2010
Sept. 15-17, Beijing China
Supported by: CCSA (Carbon Capture & Storage Association) TETA (Taiwan Emission Trading Association) CACS (Chinese-American Chemical Society)
In response to the increasing consideration on Low Carbon Economy, energy industry is seeking alternatives to be fully involved. As a leading country for both energy production and consumption, China is playing a more and more important role in the low carbon field. Estimated amount of natural gas reserves has continuously increased over the past ten years, moving from the 1997 estimation of 152.2Tcm to 187.76Tcm in 2009. It is thus quite logical to envisage using natural gas as a source of liquid transportation fuels, through natural gas conversion into liquid hydrocarbons (GTL)
With major projects in the fields of GTL, CTL, IGCC and CCS being implemented worldwide, Global XTL & IGCC Congress 2010 has been updated to incorporate the latest developments and will provide an in-depth overview of syngas production; F-T synthesis, process economics and the role of contractors in turning GTL concepts into viable projects.
